Music in Campbeltown

Music of all genres plays a large part in many peoples lives. Argyll, like most parts of Scotland, is rich in musical heritage and current talent. The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival is held annually in Campbeltown.

Campbeltown Brass and the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band are thriving bands who have enjoyed significant success over the years. The Sound of Kintyre Pipe Band was formed to enable players to continue competing in a local pipe band beyond school age.

The Twisted Melons are a popular local band steadily gaining currency in the Scottish music scene. In their own words, the trio combines "art pop, psychedelic metal, electronic noise and progressive rock".

Argyll FM, the Campbeltown based independent radio station, strongly features music in its broadcasts along with magazine programs on 106.5, 107.1 & 107.7 FM.

The music pages at Come to Campbeltown feature national, international and local artists who have been heard on Argyll FM and in the many concerts and festivals which take place. Unusually, this growing section of the web site lists music, artists, composers and publishers on the same page.

Albums listed show title, artist(s), year of publication, record label & number and publisher. The album title and the artists' carousel (at the bottom of each artist page) link to MP3 downloads. Record labels & numbers link to the online store. Album images link to MP3 samples and downloads.
